here’s how you can unlock the secret debug menu on many coke machines. you can find out how many drinks have been sold, how much money is in the machine, and, in the rare case the machine is unsecured, get yourself a free soda-pop
i just tried that on the vending machine downstairs in my dorms and was able to navigate thru the menu and see some of the options… none of the really good ones tho…

I’d like to try this, but I can’t think of a new Coke machine anywhere around here. The newest machines I ever see are always in amusement parks and such. Regardless, I wrote this down in my wallet in hopes to attacking a new Coke machine when I come upon one in my travels. Cheers.

it’s not so clear how to fix those c-switches, it’s very easy to press buttons while they are refilling that machine and i really want to be able to score free soda.

Tried this on the machine in my apartment building. It works! Looks like I have one of the “older” machines, and it was totally locked down, but I was able to see how many cokes it sold and so forth. I’ll be trying this on every machine I run across now.

i just went to my school machine (we have the one that has the glass front and the convayor belt that catches everything) the 4231 did ork but the lunch ladywalked over as i was in the menu and proceded to open the machine while i was there. it had taken some kids dollar and she was getting it back. i just left

I tried this and it DID work. I’ve found it works ONLY on the machines that’ll display changing words. The one’s that only display .75 or whatever the price is constantly will not work!

I sent this hack into 2600, but I don’t know if this guy took it. This hack has been around for a while so maybe he found it elsewhere. I didn’t discover it, I heard it from a friend then confirmed that it worked.

I was in Miami last march, and was at Bayside mall. There was a soda vending machine in the parking structure. The maching vended the 20oz plastic bottles, but the led said 50 cent, i put 50 cents it….all drinks were 50 cents….

On a pinball machine, you have to have the key to get in the machine to change things like the price. it may only be bookkeeping on the outside of the vending machine and prices on the in for reasons like this

I remember finding something like that on a pepsi machine. It didn’t let me get anything free, besides, why would I want free Mountain Dew when I can buy it at the store for around $0.30 apiece in a 24pack.
I was trying to get my money back, and I held the coin return button in for several seconds. Then I pushed one of the buttons (since it ate my change anyway) and instead of getting my soda (lousy thing) it told me the number of sodas it had sold.
1500 cans of Mountain Dew had been sold, higher than any other drink. No wonder so many people were buzzed at work. But knowing the number of drinks didn’t offer the refreshment of a cool Mountain Dew. So, I didn’t pursue it any further.
For pepsi machines, I guees I would start with the coin return button.

When I was in school students were usually responsible for refilling the machines. I would suggest gaining access to the c-switches by social enginering yourself into this position or conning / bribbing one of the refill kids. If you can enlist the suport of a cute girl you can probably get the coke distributer to let you in. Those guys are chronic horn dogs.

The coke machine code 4-2-3-1 has been listed for at least ten years (see http://www.textfiles.com) YOu can’t get a free coke out of it, but inside the machine there is a keypad for that, and even a button to switch to “coupon mode” so the machines will accept coupons instead of dollars.. could probably print those out and get crazy..but you have to open the machine.
Works on all the machines at the Dell corporate headquarters. And my apartment’s machine too. I like to leave it on ERROR …but it resets after a minute.

Coming from a guy who is 35 anmd never done anything liek this, it works and i got ONE free soda after about an hours worth of different maneuvers. We own a repair shop for coin operated toys. I.E. video games, jukeboxes, pinball machines, pool tables, etc. Called Quarters only in oklahoma. Had a new one in the shop, no one around to say hey..stop that and it works. Pretty fun for us safe players.

I tried this the other day at Robotics. We work out of a place in the City called Geason works. I tried it on the work floor and it didn’t work. The machines were TOO OLD. But upstairs at the office there are machines and my friend and I checked it out… IT WORKS! nothing like free soda or anyhting but we could get in. Sweet stuff!

This is hardly a hack. It’s actually dcoumented in the machine manual and known and used by almost any vending machine company to see machine statuses without having to take the time to open them. Coke’s machines are manufactured by Royal Vendors and the PDF manuals are available for download from their website. Occasionally you will see a Royal Vendors Pepsi machine or non-branded machine. If it’s a Royal Vendors unit that’s younger than about 15 years old, this will work. The only button inside the machine is a service button that will send the operator to the menu including the PaSS menu where pricing/etc. can be altered and free vend can be activated. The menu is still controlled via the buttons on the front. The only other input is via an optional switch (key switch usually) that can be set to do things like turn the light on/off, enable free vend, etc. however most machines do not have this switch. Incedentally, there is no way to get the machine to dump out money via the menus — even the service menu. But if you can get to that, you can get to the money.
If all you want to do is get free soda, you’d have much more success downloading the vending machine manual and examining how the vending mechanism acually works. I know it backwards and forwards, and a mechanical attack would be much more successful than an electrnic one.
Anyone who wants to see a real coke machine hack, take a look at the URL my name links to. I hacked a Royal Vendors GIII machine to dispense kegged beer as well as keep its original function of dispensing bottles and cans. What’s more, the beer flow is regulated by valves and meters and a custom built mincrocontroller circuit handles flow calibration, valve control, and the interface between the vending machine and the beer.
Further hacking tricks would involve exploring the interesting serial bus inside the machine - MDB. “MultiDrop Bus” is the serial network over which the vending computer speaks to the coin changer, the bill changer, and optionally several other devices as well such as card readers or receipt printers. The format of MDB is very intersting - it uses 11 bit frames with 9 bit bytes signalled on a 30V optically isolated bus. It requires devices to have <5ms response latency too which is a pretty high requirement for this kind of job!
Also as an aside - WTF is up with this site disallowing capital letters and color pictures? In the name of style? Maybe, fine, but give me the ability to write proper English in my comments, please!

i just found out about this “hack” from a friend who did it. He, i know for a fact, Changed the price to 5 cents, and bought a coke, and then changed it back. So yes you can basicly get a free coke. And yes, you can make the machine dump all the money, im not sure where it comes out of *inside or out* but it can be done. He wont tell me exactly how to do it cause he dosent want any knowing and i dont know him all that well, but yeah it works.

i was around when the guy was restocking the coke machine at scool and i tried to change it when he wasnt looking but i got caught and suspended for 3 days
the 4-2-3-1 debug code works for almost any new soda machine and if you put 2 pieces of tape as long as a dollar on the end of a dollar then add strips that go accross like a ladder that over lap and then put tape on the back of that tape so it si not sticky you can put the dollar in a machine and hold the tape wait for a clicking sound then slowly pull it back out you can get a soda
if you try it on a machine that cost 1.25 put the dollar in 2 times and you can get a free soda and .75 cents. some machines dont work with that because they have a thing so you cant pull your dollar out but when it does work woohoo!!!!!!!!

I know this is not a hack but you get free sodas
if you find a coke machine that has one of the moving conveyer belts that go up and down put a dollar in and pick the soda you want then hold the door closed so the soda cant come out and wait it will try to put it out again then it will give you your money back then put the dollar back in and pick the next soda you want and hold the door closed again untill it gives you your dollar then get 1 more soda but make sure they do not stack ontop of each other and let them come out of the door but you have to pullthem out of the slot fast or it will jam
if the machine jams unplug it and it should go back down and if it doesnt unplug it again but if it still doesnt work atleast you didnt lose your dollar
me and my friends found this out at school when we were skipping 7th period and ended up getting 13 soda before the machine jammed
if you scam the machine like this enough you can go to the debug menu and see how much money it says it has its rediculously high
our schools says 11000 or something like that

This article was on a site, in 2600 (written by “mEgAbYtE1″ or something like that), on G4TV’s (at the time G4TechTV) The Screensavers (now “Attack of the Show”), all around Gamesurge (server; IRC), and also I wrote (for my refrence only) a simplified guide (made with pen/paper) based on the 2600 article. I found someone on a Gamesurge room saying that they “originally found that out” and that “the guy who wrote in to 2600 stole” his idea but i dont believe him.
also those security guards at my local mall couldnt figure out how to make the coke machine stop displaying “ERROR” (it was a newer machine that uses bottles)

this hack has worked for me once (the 4231) and all that it showed was CASH then flashed some amount that i didn’t care about. i tried going up and down the menu, but apparently that was the only access that i had. (this was at wal*mart) i tried various codes on all of their machines. it only worked on the DIXIE NARCO machine.
btw, does anyone know the hack pass for royal vendors machines? at my school, i want free chocolate nesquik milk! it’s $1.50! so anyone know??? anyhelp will be great!

Yeah, I love to put the debug menu on. It makes people so mad for a minute. We have like 8 coke machines, all of them work. I go through and put them all on debug. Then the bell rings, and every one RUNS for a coke. Then they can t get one and the are SSOOOOOO mad……its funny
this hack works…true…but you cannot receive free sodas (as far as i have experienced)…

This hack defiantly works. I’ve tried on 3 different coke machines and its worked fine each time. Sometimes it wouldn’t work at first, but pressing the buttons harder and/or slower always helped.
As for getting free cokes and other more interesting options, read the WHOLE article first! It describes that only certain machines allow the “real” hacks. This can easily be noticed by extra menus besides the standard CASH, SALE, RTN and EROR. So far I’ve only encountered standard machines, but its allways fun to show off to friends! ( Also one knows how much cash there is to loot! ;-p )

we have one of these vending machines in our fraternity, and the vendors haven’t restocked it in 6 months so we hijacked the machine. we drilled out the lock and configured it for coke, diet coke, water, AND can or bottled beer! right now we have Coors Light and Corona

All you really need to do for free coke is the good old Jolly Roger, but that is opening the machine. If you doing ths in public, this is not recommended. YOu want to make it look like an accident.

ok, so it does work on some machine. the basic thing is: pass 4 2 3 1, and it will only show you how many its sold, the serial number of the machine, how mush money it has in it. there are c-switches that are either already activated by the keyholder or that you need to activate. if it is activated, you CAN get a free coke. go to con, and on one of the submenus (forgot which but one of the later ones) there is force vend. that will get yo u=your coke. or just do cpo, and buy a coke with some of that money.

I remember there used to be a coke vender i would buy drinks from; you could insert the money and when making your choice of drink push two buttons at the same time, and you would get two drinks!
sadly they saw they werent getting the right enough money and saw what was happening on CCTV!

You can get every soda out of the machine PLUS all the change too, using water.
About 10 years ago I heard about spitting warm salt water into the dollar bill changer of any can vending machine, so I tried it. It works. It still works too.
In case you haven’t heard of this, I dont think it really has to be warm or salt water, as I have done it with all 3 many times. All you need is a simple method of pouring a large amount of water (as much as gallon) into the dollar changer slot. Better to have too much than too little.
While you pour the water in the dollar slot, you will start to see wierd shit happening. Every now and then tap the metal on the machine… you may get a small buzz shock… if you do, chances are you can have your way with the machine.
Just keep putting water in until you can push a button and get sodas to come out. Sometimes you push the button once per soda, other times it has simply dropped all the sodas out for each button.
click down the change return button repeatedly while pouring the last of the water in, it takes more than to get the sodas out. Once I had to put in a dollar and push a soda button to get the change out…
I did this at a golf course at night in Maine, where I was fishing at 2 am. I Tried This In School And The Only Option I Got Was SLE - Sale Whuch Was SLE 0 - 13. I Couldn’t Get Any More Options But In The Colledges You Can Get All Of The Options Apparantly. I Want To Know How To Hack Them Milkshake Vending Machines That Are Gay. The Only Way We Get Free Drinks Out Of Them Is Stick 2 Coins Together Or Knock Them Out. Problem Is There Starting To Nail The Machines To The Floor.

This is what you do
press 4-3-2-1 which opens the menu then press 2 to go throuigh the menu untill it says errorthen press 4
this locks the machine which means that any money put into it well be kept in there but no soda comes out
aftter watching a few goons try to get soda and whatever go up to it and press the coin return and 1
enjoy some random persons money

haha i was on my school campus today and i was walking by one of those soda refilling dudes with the pallet of pop, and he was on his cell saying “i dont know, its stuck in service mode” well if i didnt run over there fast and check it out. sure enough it said ***SERVICE MODE*** (this is a somewhat old pepsi machine btw, not coke) with buttons a-f and 0-9, as well as CLR and *. well i was hitting random buttons and it said “REGULAR PRICE 0.00″ and let me input it, hit * to save, and sure enough, i set it from 1.50 to 0.50 and it works, even though it wont accept quarters only

Ok, So I just read all the comments as of today (see date above). Also, the link under “Read” gives me a 404 (Not Found).
So I go down to the local supermarket today. They have several machines, one of which is looks like it would work, it also being a Coke machine.
So, I put in the standard code: 4 2 3 1 .
This brings me to a menu with the following options:
Eror
SALE
Vnr
rtn
Eror, when I select it, displays “none”. I can’t scroll through it, or select it. So no go there.
SALE, when selected, allows me to see how many sodas were baught, and how many were baught from each slot. But still there’s nothing more I can access.
Vnr, I think it is, gives me nothing but a scrolling number, which I’m guessing is some kind of serial or identification number: 67015-6 . Can’t scroll, or select.
When I select rtn it just takes me back to the main menu, if you will.
So is there something I’m doing wrong?
Or do I not have the right machine?
What machines do work, and how can I identify them?

Hey i have tried this on many vending machines and worked on ALL of them i am unable to change any prices. But i have come across an unsecure machine 2 days ago that as soon as i entered the code, it spat out 2×375ml Pepsi, and Fanta. nothing else was accessible.

heh… we put in a nickel, and on the new pepsi machines pressed the first and 2nd buttons. and on the led, said free…. however it never gave out free

Yeah well…. i cant wait to try it… i never thought that i could hack a coke machine but i hope that it works!!! Yeah i have scored free Powerade’s once!
I put in 2 dollars, and then i pushed the forth button down, and then it was slowin (the machine) as in it was taking a while to vend, so i pushed the change return button, and then all of a sudden 4 powerades come out, and all my change came back… so sometimes it is possible to score free stuff without hacking..!

you have to open it to allow more options to come up in the menu like free drinks, coin dumping etc.

After Further review, you hit 4-2-3-1 then a screen will prompt, Kepp pressing 2 until you reace sumthing like Free Vend Accounting then hit # once in there press two untill you reech View Selection Costs. once in there hit th # on the item you wish to recieve.

on older coke machines (the ones with the circle button to the right of the pictures of pop) press this for 2$ in quarters. These numbers are the number of buttons that the button is from the top. ex:4=4th button from the top. press:432112311 then press change it should give you 2$ in quarters.
